For over 7 years, we have been passionate about promoting fishing and hosting events that bring our community together. Introducing the 2024 WTBN Angler of the year Quentin Reaume. WTBN would like to congratulate Quentin on an incredible season. Quintin joined as a first year member this year and showed out from the get go, winning the first tournament at Lake Terrell. 2024 WTBN Spanaway Lake tourney was unreal! We’ve got a NEW CLUB RECORD (pending) for Biggest 3-fish bag and Big Fish!!!!! “What’s up guys, WTBN hooked up the opportunity to share what I like to use when it comes to July and summer fishing! Something that I will always have tied on in the summer is a braid setup, something I can fish any type of heavy grass/ Pads with. I like to throw a 7’2” Medium Heavy, fast action St. Croix paired up with a Lews Skipping and Flipping (S&F) lined up with 50LB braid throwing an 11” ribbon tail worm. I’m normally a Shimano guy when it comes to reels, but this Lews S&F has a 20LB drag that has been making quite the impression! Thanks for reaching out guys! Tight lines 💪🏽”

📣 WTBN featured angler for the month of June is here! He is our former Angler of the year champ 2022 he is also our clubs treasurer/and vise president @twoosixoutdoors Brandon, was on fire last summer just check his credentials. Here is what Brandon has to say about fishing the month of June!

"June is among us and the water temperature is on a steady rise! For me June is a time where you have choices. You could fish a small lake and pound on them shallow or pick a big lake that has fish in multiple stages either way your catching fish. My June early morning trips typically start with walking some top water around concrete bulk heads and shallow points. I like to throw the Teckle Kickknocker Pup on a medium casting rod spooled with braid. Mid mornings I will either push out to deeper docks or weed lines pitching a drop shot rigged with a vmc spin shot and small paddle tail. My confidence baits are very simple I have been keeping Bomber Baits ned jig and wacky Yamamoto senko on deck at all times. If you can’t catch a fish with one of those you’re doing something wrong!"

🚨WTBN featured angler for the month of May is here! @bham_bassing has been absolutely wrecking them this year and here is what he had to say about May.

“Late April through early may is my absolute favorite time to fish it can also be one of the best times to break a pb with tons of fish moving up shallow they are on the hunt getting nice and fat before they spawn. This time of year I find that, spawning flats, entrances to spawning flats, and migration routes to be the most productive. Since the fish are cruising around searching for food I love burning a crank aggressively around rocky areas, docks, and big sand flats for giant smallmouth. I throw my cranks on a 7ft medium fast action diawa Laguna, paired with a 13fishing Concept A2 8.1 and 12lb gold label trilene. For largemouth I love throwing around a chatterbait and spinnerbait in the same areas as well as, larger flatter areas, sandy bottoms, in dead/rising pad fields. I use an abugarcia winch 7'5 medium heavy fast action bladed jig rod paired with a Shimano curado 200k in a 7.4 and 17lb gold label trilene. These two baits have produced some of my biggest fish”

Our April featured Angler of the month is @omarbassbros

Omar is on his 3rd season with the club and is one of the best finesse/Jig fisherman we have.

“My go-to baits for April are small Jigs, Senkos, ned rigs and texas rigged soft plastics. I like to work them slower in April than any other spring months. Mainly I like to use weightless baits with slow sinking action, this gives the fish a chance to look at it for awhile. You can fish Texas rigs and senkos weigh-less anywhere with heavy cover or docks etc.

I let the bait slowly sink to the bottom. Sit on it for awhile with some subtle twitches every so often. The key is patience. I’ll sit on them longer than you would expect and I’ll even fish the same area for longer than most people would. The fish are there, they see the bait and a lot of times will bite after seeing it multiple times. These tactics are super effective for both largies and smallies.

Remember be patient, use subtle twitches and don’t give up on a spot too quick. Go catch a giant. April is the month to do it.”

Our next derb is an OPEN. That means you don’t have to be a member to fish with us.

Yep, April 22nd we send it at American Lake.

We have 35 boat spots available. 2 anglers allowed per boat. Pre-registration will open on April 7th and close April 16th.

🚨 Our March featured angler is here! This is what @see.pat.fish has to say.

March madness is upon us people! Time to dust the rods off, spool up some fresh line, gear up and hit the water.....don't forget to renew your license! Late winter into spring is a phenomenal time to start catching fish, but beyond that it's prime time to hook into a hungry lady in the PB range. The lakes I'll be fishing are fairly shallow featureless bodies targeting greenies. So areas of interest are going to be offshore grasslines, structure transitions, submerged wood, and docks that are next to deep water AND lead into shallow flats, bays and pockets (spawning grounds). Remember "deep" water is relevant to your lake. I'll have 5 presentations on deck, swimbait, glidebait, arky jig, jerkbait and 1 of the following chatterbait, spinnerbait or scrounger. For me, the spinnerbait has the lead for numbers, and chatterbait in weight. But, most of my time on the water will be spent throwing a 6in+ softie swimbait and a big glide. Yet, these have yeilded me only a few bites, in the 2.5-4lb range, over the years. But i have faith. So, put em on deck, give em a toss and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

“What’s up y’all, February is a tough month everywhere but if you can brave the cold, and put up with the consistently inconsistent weather you can be rewarded greatly.

Some of my best big fish days have happened between Valentine’s Day and march including a 26 pound bag with my partner in crime Josh Stewart. (@st3wball) My main takeaway and advice would be, if you don’t want to catch rats put the light line away and switch your focus to a classic big fish bait that may not get you the most bites but will get you the right ones.

My main setup is a 7-6 heavy with 20 pound fluorocarbon, and a 1/2 or 3/4 ounce jig and a compact and a “dead action” trailer. I like to put that jig on any piece of major big fish cover and soak it for VERY extended periods of time, moving extremely slow with a high protein meal that a big fish can eat without moving far is the main key. When you think you are going slow go slower, hope see a few PBs get broke from y’all applying this deadstick mentality to big fish baits.
